Heads up, @everyone!
Pixelshire is currently targeting an Early Access launch during the first half of 2027 on the Epic Games Store.
Xbox on PC and console, as well as GOG, may also be included later on this year.
The Epic Games Store page is already live, and you can wishlist the game today!
Wishlist Pixelshire on the Epic Games Store
Anyone who already owns Pixelshire on Steam may request a free Epic Games Store key when the game is out on Early access, or a Direct download from our Website.(More details on that when the game is out)
The full release, including a digital Nintendo Switch version, is currently targeted for late 2027 or early 2028.
Throughout Early Access, the main priorities will be stability, general improvements, bug fixing, quality-of-life features and suggestions based on player feedback.
The Early Access period may be extended depending on development progress and player feedback.
Additional platforms will be announced when they are confirmed.
Now, the most complicated part: Steam
The Steam situation remains unresolved. The existing Pixelshire's Steamworks backend remain controlled by the former publisher, and the normal transfer process has not been completed due to their ongoing situation, attachment of all available funds in Maximum Entertainment’s bank account by the Swedish Enforcement Authority.
My hope is that an administrator will eventually be appointed and will be able to return the Steam backend to me, or going to court at some point.
However, I also want to be honest about some additional problems with the existing Steam AppID.
Pixelshire was released directly as a full Version 1.0 game under the former publisher’s control. Steam does not allow a fully released game to return to Early Access.
Therefore, even if I recover the existing AppID, I will not be able to release Pixelshire through Early Access on Steam. It would have to wait until the game is ready for its full release, unless Valve makes an exception—which I consider highly unlikely.
Another problem is that the existing AppID carries many negative reviews from the previous version, which may no longer reflect the actual state of the reworked game.
If the existing AppID cannot be recovered, I will ask Valve to authorize a new Pixelshire AppID when the former publisher eventually ceases to exist. Valve has already told me that this is not currently possible while the existing application remains under dispute.
Until there is a confirmed solution, I do not want to promise a Steam release date.
If Valve eventually authorizes a new AppID, everyone who previously purchased Pixelshire on Steam will be able to request the new game for free.
Thank you to everyone who has continued supporting Pixelshire. There is still plenty of work ahead, but development is moving forward.
